“Legends of Heartbreak and Epiphany in Tel Aviv”, performance at Phaidon Publishers’ headquarters in Soho, NYC
Commissioned by Artis, 2012. For the performance I talked to participants one at a time, and collected their Tel Aviv stories, to add to the next edition of this project. Participants who had not been to Tel Aviv were asked to tell me what kind of experience they dreamed of having there, and I directed them to the location where I thought those experiences would be most likely to happen. I marked each participant’s story on their map and on my copy, and together we made up a title for the story they had told me. Some of the titles were “Where your purse got stolen but I didn’t feel so bad”, “Where I will dance and figure some things out” and “Where we kissed and I smelled salt”.
